Piemonte Vineyards Piemonte Pictures - VineyardsGrapes budding at the end of May at Cordero di Montezemolo. Nebbiolo vines grow fast and have deep roots--most, like these, are dry farmed. Probably named after the early morning fog (nebbia) that covers the vineyards, especially in fall, nebbiolo, along with Tuscany's sangiovese, are considered Italy’s greatest indigenous red grapes. Nebbiolo is used in Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
